N-E fault could be on one of the circuits that is on the RCD side that is not tripping. take the suspect N's out of bar and IR test.

Yes a N-E fault, I had that many years back with a pinched neutral in a double socket, I admit it was a socket I had installed. can't find the embarrassed emoji, so ?

last 1 i had was shower switch N-E fault. switch on kettle (on the other RCD) and it tripped.

So yesterday the owner disconnected a lighting circuit from the side that tripped and everything worked fine, didn’t trip once.
my tester is being calibrated at present once it’s back I will carry out the tests.

what bets it's 2 way landing light L and N from separate circuits.

So there are 3 lighting circuits, one for the landing and 2 bedrooms, bathroom and the 3rd bedroom. He disconnected the 3rd bedroom as a elimination process. He’s very adamant to fix this himself.
One of those customers that wants your help but wants to do it all himself

Let him fix it then, but if he calls you back, charge him extra for putting right what he's maybe mixed up.
ie neutrals and cpc not in the same numbers as the lives.

Sounds like my sister's father in-law, he got a roofing contractor to sort his roof out, but ended up on the roof doing it, and the contractor passing up the roof tile's lol
