New joiner and absolute respect for electricity. Being a believer in experience having been thrown across a kitchen when trying to fix a twin tub washing machine by the shock I now triple check there is no live supply on anything I work on. Also plenty of diy on classic car electrics and yes also unwittingly tested spark plug current much to my displeasure. Old coil leads weren’t always that good at insulation.
Anyway question I have is has anyone come across the type of probably American lamp standard and how to get at wiring. Pictures hopefully here.

I’m assuming either unscrewing cover above ligh split (which is tight) or unscrewing upper barrel. Just wondered if anyone had come across this type.
Thanks.

Assuming the white around the lamp holder base is polish residue and not solder they will unscrew. You first need to undo the large ribbed ring to release the ceramic lamp pin base or it will twist as you unscrew it.
