Anyone else having problems with heat detectors on lofts over the hot period? We've fitted quite a few lately after property's have had pv panels installed. They have been going wild over the hot spell. Just wondered if anyone has had the same?

I fit a lot of smoke detectors in lofts for student accommodation and haven't had any reports of problems.

What make and model of detectors are you using?

Smoke and heat detectors in non habitable/ non transit areas?
Why Aye.

Excuse me mr onions would you like to fit lots of smokes in lots of lofts for lots of money..............................sorry I can't as its not required to comply with an LD3 system. Trev can you guess which bit of that conversation didn't happen? :6:

And fitting aico heat detectors.

I agree with you to a point Onions mate, if the client insists on it and is prepared to pay then fair enough but in a situation like that I'd tell them they were wasting their money and explain why.
He who pays the piper calls the tune though.

Why call it 'Smokes in lofts', then ?

Well the lots of money bit wasn't quite right either. But it's to do with a faulty pv inverter in a loft which was picked up and suggested that smoke detection should be fitted near the inverter.
