AFAIK Part M applies to new buildings, not extensions.

Rermber Part M does not only dictate socket, etc heights. It also specifies ramp access, wheelchair accesible door widths for WCs etc. So if the socket height requirment is there, then the rest of the building also has to comply.

The Introduction to the APPROVED DOCUMENT for Part M specifically says this:

Would have thought the 1200mm relates to max height so accessible to wheelchair users so lower would not be a problem unless you were Courtney Lawes suffering from a bad back. Some architects are up their own backsides though!

why do youthink we call them Arse-etects?

Watching some program last night on the £100k house. I love traditional wooden frame buildings but when someone puts something together that looks like a second hand garden shed with loads of rough exposed old bits of softwood exposed on the inside I think they are having a laugh. As far as some architects are concerned it's like fashion and the saying 'the King is in the all together applies' Thank god for Prince Charles saying how it is! I'm not against garden sheds either ... especially when you're trying to run a power supply to them! :D

I think we all know what it says but if the customer wants to receive a completion certificate then the views of the LABC officer needs to be taken into account.

I've had to fit smoke alarms in the older part of a property, but nothing in an extension - go figure that one!
