I'm doing more and more DIY (domestic bits). Recently swapped an old pendant for some downlights in the kitchen. Basic stuff really.

My Dad's asked me can I do the same in his place after seeing the new lights. Realised that although I know how to do it quite easily and done a fair few lighting jobs and I'm getting up to speed with ratings etc. now, I'd want him to get a professional so it's signed off and in compliance with regs etc.

What would I need to be able to safely do these jobs for friends and family myself rather than passing it on to someone qualified?

I'm looking at the part P course, is that all a 'proper' electrician would have or is there a lot more to it?

Part P is a Building Regulation.

Thanks mate, just seen that. Regs for minor vs notifiable works, I see what you mean.

What course would be best for certifying that my work was safe? (Appreciated regs change a lot, I mean just the first course for now to get me going).
