I know its a pain, but many electricians will be buying the new regs book. I've been browsing one particular site and wondered what best to buy with the new yellow BS7671 regs. You guys refer to the IT "OSG" book a great deal, but I've noticed another book being sold with BS7671 called "site...

Hi There
If anyone can help in pointing me in the right direction within the regs please.
I am a meter engineer and it has been some time since i have had to refer to my regs book since my test and inspection days.
Surveying a meter installation today i have found 2 x 10mm t&e cables serving...
Hi Guys , Haven't posted for a while. I carry out commercial, industrial Electrical works mainly & on occasions I have carried out Domestic Rewires, probably 1 or 2 a Year. I usually submit relevant certs etc through Building Control of at least 2 Council Authorities without a problem, pay around...
Can anybody help me source BS7671 I'm looking for a section somewhere which explains what all needs RCD protection on a TNCS electric installation system thanks
Personally I would like to see a reg insisting on Isolation for fans and showers in Domestic installations, I am sure there are dozens of others as well, but rather than name more at this point, what do you lot think about potential new Regs? and also which regs should we get rid of?
Hi,
just wondered what your thoughts are on this,
3 bed town house
Whole house ring final, mixture of 2.5 / 1.0 & 2.5 / 1.5 twin and earth cables,
End to ends = 0.78, 0.78, 1.6. R1r2 = 0.61 (spur).
ZS = 0.66!
BS7671 recommends a max of 100 square meters which using 2.5/1.5 = an r1r2 of...
Hi guys, after some guidance, gonig to be doing an Eicr on a Canal/Barge... anbody ever done anything to do with installations on this? Anything in the regs which i need to be looking at? Everything needs to be RCD? Earthing arrangements etc
Out of interest, what 'amended to' date are other people now putting on their certificates these days, given that there have been two further amendments since No.1 of 2011 (complete reissue of Section 710 medical; addition of 722 electric vehicle charging)? Common sense would suggest the 2013...
I occasionally come across reasonably sized ( not for some of you , I know ! ) star delta motors that have been run in 2 x 3core swa .
Now after looking in to this in the past , it has been suggested that as they tend to be only on motors up to 30kw or so , and as the loading per phase will be...
Hi I'm doing my nic eic domestic installer, I've done my big job of rewire all done and tested. Now I've got to do a small job I've fitted a new socket which is RCD protected but the main tails from meter to the CU are only 16mm does this mean I will have to change them for 25mm as you do when...

Heard on the grapevine there is a new updated BS7671 book due end of the year which will have a yellow cover.
Anyone know anymore?
Is it another Amendment to 17th Ed or are we moving on to 18th Edition ?
The first draft of amendment 3 is on the IET website (I think you have to be registered to download it).
No great changes apparently, slightly stricter RCD rules for socket outlets is the biggest change spotted so far.
Can anybody tell me the sequence of testing that's stated in BS7671? At college I've been taught CRIPES, which is:
Continuity
Ring final continuity
Insulation resistance
Polarity
Earth loop impedance
(functional) Switching
Why are these carried out in this specific order?
