Just been to another one of those !!
Plumber replaces shower for upgraded version. 40A mcb replaces 32A. No problem mate !! that will work fine.
So 12 months later the owners girlfriend moves in with him.
So that poor old 6mm that was just starting to break a sweat for 12 months, suddenly...
Hi all,
Had my downstairs ring final circuit trip the B32 MCB today. The missus was in the kitchen cooking and had apparently put the kettle on and as it was close to boiling the MCB tripped.
I therefore assumed it would be due to the kettle so I checked the 13A fuse in the kettle plug but it...
I’ve a fuseboard as pictured, which has been nuisance tripping on the downstairs ring final circuit. It started off with 32a breaker tripping which is RCD protected, and now it’s tripping the Main RCD switch.
This is a relative's property and he’s already had an electrician in, who’s ran a...
Hi..I should probably know this but don't do too much 3 Phase stuff!!
Can anyone give the formula for working out the size of a 3 phase MCB?
I have a 12kw 3 Phase fryer to install.
Cheers
Evening all. My neighbour just got me out the shower as he has no lighting. He's got an old wylex consumer unit with retro fit MCB, the one with the red button to trip.
Anyway after removing the cover found nothing between L-N and L-CPC out going on both lighting circuits, but power on the...
Hello
I am new on this website and first want to say hello to everyone. We moved to a house with old night storage heaters. We had to replace one in our bedroom this winter. The new electric radiator is 1,1kw with a plug. Night storage were hard wired 2,5mm cable with 16a mcb on night economy 7...
Hello,
In my kitchen, I make multiple sockets that are controlled by one MCB. For some weeks, I don't know why the MCB used to trip and I used to turn it back ON. One day the MCB didn't go to the off position but all those sockets stopped working.
I pressed the test button on the particular MCB...
Hi, recently carried out an eicr at a rented property. There were 5x 1mm in a 6amp mcb for lighting.. my question is what code should I be looking at for this??
I am sure I have heard someone mention or read somewhere about overpopulating an mcb should be a code 2... but then i have also heard...
I'm currently just at the start of my electrical training so please excuse what may be a dumb question. It's a few weeks till I'm back at college and so not able to ask the question there.
I want to understand a bit more about cable length. If you're using an MCB as overcurrent and fault...
Hi. I found a radial power circuit on an EICR yesterday wired in 6mm2 flat twin PVC cable and have some concerns. I know that the MCB is designed to protect the cable but what about the terminals of the sockets? 13A socket-outlets are rated to 20A max and I am not sure they are designed to have...
I've just spent an hour getting bogged down with the maths trying to work out diversity for 2 cooking appliances on the same circuit (32A MCB) and same isolation switch,
I thought I would give my workings so others can use it as I wonder if some just assume you can still use the 15kW maximum...
Hi all,
Do you know when BS 3871 Type 2 MCB's where not allowed to be fitted to a new circuit?
How should they be recorded on a EICR, as a BS 3871 Type 2 or BS 60898 Type B?
On the EICR they have been recorded as the latter.
Many thanks
B
Lighting MCB started tripping over Christmas. Sometimes you can reset right away, and sometimes maybe the next day, which makes me think dampness due to snow etc. It can trip in the mddle of the the night , when no lights are on
It always takes out RCD, but isolating the lighting circuit means...
Evening gents.
Level 3 trainee here so forgive a maybe stupid question but I came across this today. EM lighting circuit, two cores from 4 core SWA into MCB. Brown core switched live off to two way switching, black perm to EM maintaince keyswitch. Maintained colours throughout circuit. Seemed...
I recently fixed a fault on a lighting circuit. The fault became apparent after some work I had carried out - I rewired part of the circuit for an ensuite refit, plus some additions to other circuits supplied by the same CU. I needed to provide RCD protection to the circuits that I had worked...
Is there any issues in having 10amp breaker if the circuit is pulling just under 6 amps? I know the breakers there to protect the cable and the cable is 2.5 3 core armour. Just curious.
