Well the 18th edition 2nd amendment is on its way, has anyone read the proposed new changes yet?
Due to be released March 2022 , and implemented March 2023.
From what I've seen, AFFD's will be compulsory, rewording of certification, changes to RCD regs , and changes to wiring in escape routes (no pvc trunking in escape routes)
There's more but I haven't managed to Wade through it all yet.

Here is the other thread I gave up with the link.

There is also a load about new build earthing which could be "interesting".

My guess with the AFDD is they are hoping by announcing that it will basically become mandatory just like with SPD's manufacturers will invest more and produce more so the price will come down, I think if there is no sign of that then it will likely be watered down again to come back another time.

Wylex already produce a single way AFDD RCBO for the low low price of ÂŁ150  (well, as listed on screwies)

I'm pretty interested to see where all the Prosumer stuff goes, as where I work the idea of a solar panel is something from the future where they have flying cars.

At least they have one, hager has an AFDD - it's two module and needs a separate RCBO

Most manufacturers are similar at the moment, only a few have combined units, even fewer are single module.

Yeah, I can see it being a whole can of worms as they all work differently too between manufacturers by monitoring for different types or arcs. I think they want to get them to a standard of what is and isn't covered before we get it as mandatory.

No cover for lighting circuits at present with them anyway as they need a certain amount of current to work. I guess the tech can only improve going forward though.
