Hi. What is the best way of joining a 10mm2 cable in the rear of a consumer unit (shower cable too short). I used a 60A choc block screw connector, but is there anything better suited? I use the yellow 6mm2 insulated crimps for 6mm2 cable

Thanks

I would use uninsulated butt crimps. Wrap the area of the crimp in self-amalgamating tape to try and take out any sharp edges that could perhaps damage the heatshrink and then go for a layer of adhesive lined heatshrink followed by some standard colour coded. Adhesive lined to try and provide some strain relief for the crimp and also to keep moisture out.

You could use wagos, think they're rated to 32A in the larger size, it be tempted to use bare tube crimps and a hydraulic crimped then heat sleeve if you have those tools

10mm uninsulated crimps (butt connectors), then crimp with a good quality hex crimper Crimping Tool For Copper Tube Terminals 6.0 - 50.0mm² - https://www.cablecraft.co.uk/crt-50-for-copper-tube-terminals-6-0-50-0mm-24130?gclid=Cj0KCQiAmfmABhCHARIsACwPRABF9L1_lnVTmCNZJ_1xP_PbmMyuoN2k2qovOM7694vjMsk6YUMPUe0aAnnGEALw_wcB
I used to worry about how to join anything over 6mm, then found the hex crimper, thanks to this forum!
Cover with heat shrink.
