Can I use this 12V AC adapter from the US in this country?

Hi all,

Am not completely sure on this, Recently purchased some low power consuming devices which came with USA AC adapters as in the picture. Can I use a simple pin type adapter or would I need a step down transformer? Can I use a UK adapter with 12V output? Thanks!

It Will go pop if you plug it in. It will not work just plugged in, the voltage is too high

Get a 230v UK power supply 12v Dc 500ma, centre pin +ve

Don't plug it in, it will destroy it. You should be able to get a 230v equivalent at any decent electronics shop or on ebay, they're not expensive. Just make sure it's 12V and at least 500mA output.

No, the transformer would say something along the lines “Input: 100Vac - 240Vac 50/60Hz” if it was designed to work on 110 and 240 Volts.
A replacement transformer should be easy to find but it may be best to get some advice directly from an electrical supplier to ensure you understand the requirements.

I would suggest something like SW4010E - POWERPAX - AC/DC Power Supply, Level V, UK, 90 V, 264 V, 12 W, 12 V, 1 A | Farnell element14 you just need to measure the diameter of the inner pin of the connector and the outer diameter of the barrel, a micrometer is required need to be able to tell the difference between 2.1mm and 2.5mm

or take one of the devices into nearest maplins. a !
1A cctv psu would do the job as long as the end connector was the same.
