connection of pv system onto split phase supply.

Hi,

Has anyone had any experience connecting PV onto a split phase supply?

Should I be balancing single phase inverters to supply each phase? 3 phase inverters are a no go?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fronius do couple of split phase inverter. Fronius IG Plus 100-2

You can't use a 3phase inverter on 2 phases.
What size of PV system are you planning to install?

Thanks for the info. That is very useful!!

Presumably I can use single phase inverters as long as a balance the phases if I wished to do so, although I think I will now go with the Fronius.

The Client was looking for a large installation to cover a barn, which I suggested was not feasible on split phase system, DNO agreed with this as they estimated £50-£75k to upgrade to a 3ph system.

Did an install on a split phase system but was <4kw I was advised by the DNO to keep it under 3.7kw as this is the allowable inbalance between phases ,he also said that to go >4kw would definitely involve reinforcement costs
one inverter <3.7kw on one phase should'nt be a problem, two the same size on two phases also ok
