Wonder who the lucky Spark on here is now the contractor?
Discuss Electrician walked off the job half way, what now? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net
What do you want out of this thread? Sympathy? Not from me or many others I would guess.
You pulled a stunt with the first transaction, do the same to me and I’d walk away. During the hearing weren’t questions asked about the payment methods? Very surprised if there weren’t!
It would be interesting if the first electrician were to come on to here, there’s two sides to every story. This one has become long and boring!
i have read this thread with interest as i am looking for clues to be a succesful contractor...what i can really decipher is ....there is obviously 2 sides to every story and this is not a personal attack on the poster but it is clear he has flexible ways of working which the original spark wasnt happy with...who the hell calls a place with that many circuits 'small'?...i will pay you on monday which turns out to be 'someone else will pay you on tuesday'.....i think the original spark saw what was coming and just made sure he got out of there without taking a loss and i am struggling to fault him.
i call bulls*** on the job even existing
no-one in chesterfield has the coin to build a 6000 sqft luxury designer apartment , the place is a dump lol.
and if they could afford it , they wouldnt build it there in the first place , they'd choose somewhere nicer.......
like the bronx , moss-side or toxteth.
;-)

I would be living back in London or Prague but work and family have brought us back to the UK.
He can post if he wants. I know he is following this thread.
He seems to have done a very good job so far. I have to huge consumer units filled with RCBO's
Just spotted the update, yes its me who is doing the rest. Some quite amusing comments .....
Chezvegas as it is called is my birth town, have travelled a fair bit over the years and its quite nice, we have the Peak District and surrounding villages which "southerners" fall over themselves to buy
As for the job, its one of those jobs which was / is always going to change.
I am the 3rd sparkie and the work done by the first was "OK" (probably less than a grands worth - i needed to neaten up a few runs and the zoning was a bit random, as for dead tests, no chance, no cable had been stripped. Have agreed with owner not to put the floors down until we have tested.
Hi plugs , you say the 3rd sparkie !?
Don't feel you have to answer , if it will put you in a awkward position !:dots:
Hi Guys.
Another update. So Mr CS applied to have the judgment set aside, as I am based in the US at the moment I was not able to go to court to fight this and he successfully had the verdict set aside.
So we had our day in front of the judge a few weeks ago, this is the first time I have spoken to CS and I got the feeling he honestly believes he had done 3.1k worth of work and that I am trying to rip him off.
On the other hand I had a valuation of the work with shows it was just under 1.3k worth of work which in my view is what the work was worth.
After calling his accountant he finally agreed that there is no such thing as a VAT exemption number for a new build and that he was not actually supposed to charge me VAT.
After much going back and forth he agreed to pay me back £1500 which I agreed to accept.
He paid me on the date promised and this is now closed.
Its fair to say I will never deal with Mr CS again.
All in all am happy this is over and done with. I cost me £120 in legal fees, £150 in fuel to drive down to court and £3000 to fly back to the uk to go to court. I got £1.5k back. This was never about the money I just dont like being taken for a ride.
I know everyone says there is 2 sides to a story, so as this is public record now here is Mr CS side of the story.

You shouldn't be publicising the individuals names on here.
£258 for 2 weeks hotel - sounds more like campsite fees

Its now in the public record so I assume its ok.
The last IBIS in ***link removed ***, lol stank of dirty sweaty bodies - it was only for one night and the alternative was to sleep in a cow shed - never again.....
Come on the Mr xxxxxxxSo did you edit your name out then? It seems to have disappeared.
Time to be honest as I know what it said.
LOL really, I have stated a few times with IBIS and for the price they have been fine.
I think he stayed in the IBIS which is quite cheap and not bad at all, I would have no problem staying there.
Why he think I should be paying for his hotel I do not know, 600m of 2.5mm used used and 55 to 60 35mm back boxes which I think think cost £600 + Vat.
OK.
So Belmont Build thinks its OK for him to name and shame a sparky, but then remove his name from said details, to keep his identify secret.
So shall we play hangman to reveal Belmont Builds identity?
so to start off the surname has 7 letters, who's going first with a guess of a letter?

If he is from out of town then this would be reasonable

Also I managed to convince Mr CS (after a call to his accountant) that actually there is no such thing as a VAT exemption number for a new build and that he was supposed to zero rate the VAT, so he will get the VAT back that he paid so actually he is only just under £1k out of pocket now.
To be fair to CS he has lost a few days of work having to go to court so he has lost out in all of this also.
I dont agree with some of what is said in the letter, but thats my point of view.
Anyone that wants my name can go and look it up the court documents, the reference number is there.
I have used CS in all my posts to avoid it coming up in a google search.

I've got mixed feelings on this one but I'm glad it's settled for all concerned but I still don't see the reason he walked. Seems a bit OTT to block up the court roll with this kinda case when a judgment has no consequences apart from a few quid one way or the other that won't even cover the effort and expense of the legal remedy. If there's no winners apart from lawyers then it's a shame you couldn't come to an out of court settlement.
*edit* If the court records are in the public domain then there's no privacy issues and you're welcome to attach or link to them if you like.
Murdoch are you sure that attachment is still visible as I took it down last night (or at least I think I did  )
