Hi. I’m wanting to fit a new ceiling light in our hallway. Can someone please advise what I need to do or buy as there are more wires in the old fitting (part of a relay circuit?) than there are places to wire them into in the new fitting. Thanks in advance.IMG_7676.jpeg

the 2 browns that are currently together go into a conn, block/wago and do not connect to the light. to the right should be 2 browns. these also connect to the light. the blues should all be conn. together and also to the light itself. if s pace is critical, make the connections above the ceiling.

It's not as straightforward as it looks.
There are three browns in the centre "loop" terminal (2 are in the same screw terminal).
There appears to be a 3 core and earth cable, with the grey core oversleeved in blue, connected to the neutral terminal; and the black core connected to the switched live terminal.
It may be sensible to call in an electrician to this one.

It is straightforward.... just follow what tel said....

Keep those blues together N of light..... keep the middle browns together, but dont connect to light.... other browns at the far end L of light.
All the earths together.... and connect to the earth of light... its metal, needs earthed.

You could be right about the 3 core, though... i didnt see it.

Hi. Thank you all for your advice. Might just contact an electrician so it’s done properly. Any rough ideas on how much an electrician would charge?

I'd charge you a call-out fee £50 which would include up to 1 hour on site. any materials supplied would be charged at cost (only a few quid, <£10).

I see you are in Yorkshire. You may get it done for 1/2 sheep.
