what making a DB look like a Panini sticker album?

Lol!

We also should know that there is 230 volts at a single phase distribution board. Still has a warning label on it though.

We live in a world where we need to install 'mind your head' signs on low ceilings so in perspective the harmonisation label seems obvious.

True but it's a reg 514.14

Well thats it then, we must abide by every word the regs say. I had better go and get me some stickers and go and fit them on all the jobs I have done where there has been a cross over in colours because someting bad may happen.

Unfortunately if you believe all this "we need telling everything" attitude to society then there is something very long with life it self.

Hey man. I don't make the rules. I just follow them.

Yea maybe you should then lol. I keep a reel of mixed colour stickers in the van so it's not really no hardship to me to stick a sticker on the DB at a cost of a few pence haha.

Tbh putting the colours sticker on the cu now is a waste of time and money. I think I'm going to stop putting them on from Monday.

Just because its wrote in a book you pay alot of money for doesnt mean you have to you know.

Yeah I know. Just because there are double yellow lines outside my local shop doesn't mean I can't park there. Just means if I do I run the risk of a fine.

I choose to to follow the book to the best of my ability. If you don't. Makes no difference to me.

You do realise that the BGB is neither mandatory nor statutory, but just a guide dont you?

Of course! But I'm just not that anti or feel like I must go against the grain for the sake of it.
At the end of the day I'm part of a scam and if I choose a job as part of my annual assessment then I know it's all tip top for the sake of a sticker that 9/10 can go in side the flap of the DB and be hidden until the flap is pulled down so doesn't look like a Panini sticker album as you put it.

Peopple need to use their brains a little more, not be led by a book. I am not having a dig at either of you, but what purpose does a sticker on a DB stating there are different colours used on on a install actually serve?

I agree completely but it costs me nothing to comply so I just get on with it. I do not know all the answers so I choose to use the book as my guide, safe in the knowledge that it will back me up if things go wrong.

I am also a member of a 'scam' that my clients hold in high regard so it also makes good business sense to me. I can seperate my business desicions from my personal feelings towards BS7671.

Maybe you should challenge your assesor next time then, prove you can think outside the box and provide a reasoned argument. While I agree the regs are " our bible" so to speak, you should alos yourself be capable of arguing any pros and cons in it that affect your install.

Well this thread has moved on since i last looked at it. Zakary i didn't realise you're a retired spark and i'm sorry if i was a little curt with you earlier.

If the cable is to be used on your own house or for friends/family by all means, but if it is a paying customer you'd have to ask yourself if it is morally right to be getting shot of old stock onto an unsuspecting customer.

Naaah. Life is to short for the sake of a 2p sticker. It would cost me 10000 times that to argue my case. Not a good business desicion, and for what? One upmanship over someone I see once a year. Keep him sweet. Buy him lunch. See him in 12 months. Everyone's happy.

You pay good money for your annual assesment, why shouldn't you argue your case?

There are too many yes men who are members of the scams, dont be a sheep.
