Was asked to an EICR a building today, old church converted into workshop. This was 1 of 6 boards, this is how i found it. Was told it hasn't had a cover in 20 years and the last electrician passed it so what's the issue? Some people are unbelievable. To make matters worse it's at head height and not even hard to reach

might be poor by todays Standards ?
But when it was installed long ago, it may well have been normal.
and if it has lasted this long with no problems
Then it cannot be so bad.

A missing lid 40 years ago would still have been unacceptable...

In fact standards 30-40 years ago were very much better than they often are today

It’s only due to years of bad maintenance and diy interference most older installations get completely trashed
