I'm looking to change ceiling light - from Ikea, its metal but there is no earth on new light connectors...i thought any metal light needed earthing?! The light is class II double insulated fitting so would that be the reason for no earth on light connector?? Will this be safe to fit with no Earth??

If it is class 2 then there’s no requirement for the earth to be connected. I would terminate them into a Wago or choc block to keep things tidy.

Welcome to the forum, I edited your spelling mistakes in title and post, saves the thread going awol, in answer the double insulation mark or class II means it doesn't require earthing so good to go.

If it is correctly fitted and the correct testing and certification carried out then a class 2 fitting is acceptable and no earth connection is required.

However if you wish to make a diy attempt at installing the light fitting then it is anyone’s guess whether what you do is safe or not.
But it’s only your life and the life of your family which you are gambling with so it’s probably worth saving the cost of an electrician isn’t it?

I really dislike these cheap metal lights that state they are class 2 just because they have a bit of rubber sleeving that covers live conductors.

They are a pain in the --- to fit. If there are 2 or God forbid 3 cables entering the fitting it makes it virtually imposible to fit, and most people discard the vital piece of rubber to make it easier to fit this creating a class 1 fitting with a class 2 label.
