Discuss Reinstating / making good in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

why do op come on this forum to complain about the decorations, he could have said I will get my own plaster in !

When the quotes states "suitable for redecoration" then that's what you expect....
If the guys no good at making good then his quotes need re-wording.
If I copped off with a lass and told her I'm great in bed and can last 5 mins but only last 1min 15 seconds then he's going to be gutted. (I'd be happy...:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:)

Hi - the finish appears to be rough and needs some plastering and tlc before painting. It is normal that an Electrician doesn't do the finishing plaster or painting. And painting and decorating is a separate trade again from plastering. Probably you wouldn't want to have an Electrician do plastering, well not me anyway .

patch out, bit of stick wider than patch behind and fixed to wall at each side with screws, refix patch to bit of stick

bugger getting plaster out!

ive been into some jobs recently where the sparky before me thought it suitable to just fit single fast fit boxes with blank plates at every patch he took out, bit misleading when doing an eicr!

Usually inform customer and make them aware they will need to bring in a plasterer or I don't take the the job. If not I do bonding, finishing plaster sanding and painting up to customer. We are electricians not DIY Jack of all trades.

My sparks left me with this and it was after a recommendation from here, "bit of polyfilla will do"

Hi all,

in the statement of works I have from my electrician, it says:
"Re-instatement of damaged areas: all areas of the house where it is necessary to cut wall chases and sink boxes etc will be restored to a condition suitable for redecoration."

Given the example photos you have posted, and on the basis he hasn't finished, then clearly a polite word in his ear about "final finishing" and I would also mention payment will be made once that has been done.....
