Heck no ,

still have the plastic proteus split load board that came with our current house

haven’t touched it since we moved in 5 years ago , other than to reset the rcd a few times when for some reason the new over trips it on occasion

house was rewired c. 1990 (before my time here) all the VIR cables replaced and new accessories. being Polish, they had no concept of RFCs so 2 socket radials went into the same 30A fuse. in the old DB from 1956. during the process of adding more sockets, downlights, etc., i have put the radials on separate 20A MCBs, inside a plastic BG dual RCD board mounted sideeways the save demolishing a supporting wall ( was before 2018 ), with the garage sub fed from a non-RCD MCB as we have 3 freezers in there.

I went from this:

That reminds me I still need to reroute the gas bond.

Why did you bring the earth cable out the trunking via a stuffing gland ...?

couodnt you have simply taken into the board with the other cables ...?
Water bond from the far end of the house, I just like having a MET outside the DB, adds a little colour to an otherwise drab part of the house.

I have 4 fuses in my house consumer unit.
A 16mm swa to the garage and workshop with a 32way distribution board.
You can tell where my priorities lie.
It is all rcd protected but I have not got round to doing a house retire yet.

I must admit I did replace the old 3036 fuse box at my old house with a mcb board (with rcd main switch) that I took out of a job I was doing.
it was in reasonable condition probably only 15 years old.
just mastic round the edges where I didn’t use all of the existing knock outs.
wasn’t a bad job that cost the grand sum of £0

that's not a luxury, it's a pose. any other socket or a couple of bare wires would do the same job.

a man after my own thinking. if it can be used, use it..... a bit like a woman. (where's my pc tin hat?)

And the luxury of a MFT Test Socket :)
I put a garage unit in with RCD to one socket just to fill out the test sheets - saved me plenty on annual calibration, though the NICEIC seem to keep changing their mind about whether or how often it's required.

Cheapest BG plastic dual RCD board available from Screwfix that I put in many years back the day before my annual inspection  - Still I passed, and not touched it since.

Ever seen the state of builder's houses?

Might even replace the manky plastic sockets in the kitchen with the metal clad ones I bought about 10 years ago one of these days....

Lol same here, changed my CU for my assessment last year when I was short on available jobs

axiom job from Toolstation ? does have SPD though ?

Up until Covid still had a 4 way Wylex with rewireables and a 30 amp shower unit with a cartridge fuse on a 8.4 kw shower no RCD protection at all been like it from when moved in 5 years ago.

Had a couple of spare Cartridge fuse in cupboard for when it went so all good.

Then Covid hit and decided to replace it with a Crabtree High int unit and install a EVCP at same time. 4 hrs later all done ??

I’ve got a BG split load board that was installed in 2017 before I moved in.

Some of the cables could do with a bit of a tidy up, but it’s safe and all tested out good.

The only work I’ve done on it is renewing the earthing and bonding as they weren’t secured too well.

Putting in a new board will be the last thing I do, once I’ve finished the rest of the house and there’s a fair bit to do.
