I'm pretty sure that CMP glands are what we are using, but they certainly don't come with galv locknuts in our kits. As i say, it might just be a cost cutting thing they do in the UK...

the cmp glands definitely come with brass lockrings.

dont forget that each brand will do different models of them, eng im guessing your using a more expensive better gland pack from the same company

BW and CW CMP glands come with galv locknuts over here it's the E1W glands etc that come with brass locknuts, if we use the CW's we always order plenty of brass locknuts to suit

If I'm honest I use m6 hex bolt , I've tried to get a hold of brass nuts and bolts got laughed out of eddies !

I've also seen on mainly caravan parks with a few swa/xlpe glanded to brass plate with i thought was a great idea
Have you guys any experience of it ? If so from where and wot thickness brass sheet do you use

Will be getting 20mm brass lock nuts and m6 nuts/bolts

But i think i know what your talking about, ...the brass screwed bar that the SWA glands screw directly into , that accommodates a provision for flying CPC connection...

I thought they had a screw thread. They’re no damn good the slightest strain and the gland will pull out.

I seem to recall someone saying they were an improvement. Can’t say I’m impressed.

Anything is classed as an improvement these days if it means making things easier!! They don't seem to ever be too fussed about the loss of the actual construction strength and the like....

Not voted in the poll as it depends on the box type you are glanding to. See a lot of banjo's externally on IP rated boxes with a hole drilled through the casing compromising the IP rating.
Use the pirana or earth nuts on plastic boxes makes installs quicker and neater and no IP is compromised.they are over a £1 each but worth it.
Not seen the wiska brass plates but they look good to me as putting any type of lock nut internally inside the box is a fiddly job due to the prethreaded holes. Cheers Leesparkykent will give them a try

Ive heard some sparks say the same with regards to the 6mm hole and bolt. I agree with you as a bigger hole with a gland through it is sat next to it lol.

That thing in the picture is not a piranha nut, it's a wiska thing specifically for their boxes which is a bit rubbish really.

The wiska box is IP 66 and the pre threaded knockouts are self sealing the mounting screws are external to the seal and its a myth to dril a hole in it compromises its IP rating ? I get the point you are making with standard boxes.

The cable has to enter the enclosure therefore a hole is necessary and cannot be avoided and if the IP rating needs to be maintained a suitable sealing washer should be installed. The hole for the banjo bolt is not necessary and can be avoided this negating the possibility of compromising the IP rating.

As i say the SWA earth nuts we use ''are'' threaded so can't be the actual piranha nuts you use. As far as i remember they come with a single grub screw, though i may be wrong on that one. They can be used in place of the gland kit's locknut, but rarely is.

What do you by no thread? As in no thread on the inside of the nut? I've got a bag of them in my tool box and they are definitely threaded! Although i am now doubting who the manufacturer is :S i get them from cef anwyay.

Piranha nuts are threaded, and also have grub-screw positions on each flat (so 6 positions). The come with 1 Allen key screw to lock the nut in place, and 1 cross-head screw and washer to fix an earth lead.
