I'm patiently sat waiting for the Draft for Public Consultation to come out, so I can have a right little chuckle.

The bsi web site says its due for release at the close of play today.

Just need to think where I can borrow the money for the course, exam and books.

If you want to have a butchers, someone posted this link a while ago;

Think it's gonna give me nightmares! Can't take the credit for the link, that was someone else. I'm just wondering what to do with all the old books, they're not exactly Classic Fiction.

The draft isn't up there yet.

I hope as many electricians as possible read it and make good sensible comments which might actually get considered by the committee.

It's set for release by the end of today, I've clicked the tick box to be emailed when its published. Pensively checking my inbox. Need something to read on holiday.

I'm just concerned that electricians won't bother to read it, comment on it or will submit unhelpful comments that will just get ignored.
This is an opportunity to try and head off any particularly bad changes, Andy maybe even get them to consider fixing some of the crap that's in there at the moment.

Which box I can't find one.

How much does that cost if you don't mind me asking?

I've just been looking... starts at £63+VAT and goes up to £368+VAT... per year.

Wiring Regulations digital subscription: Bronze package - IET Electrical - http://electrical.------.org/wiring-regulations/digital/packages.cfm

As the principal subscriber I can invite other people on to my sub. I did this with a few electricians even offerred @Rpa07 to come in, but he didn't, but anyway got most of it paid for. I let people who work for me (improvers) access it as well. It is sterling really.

Hmm 83 (sorry 79 now) days to comment and 254 days before they start to resolve the comments, just 63 days before it is published.
How much attention are they going to be paying to the comments?

That is not to say you should not comment, it is well worth making sensible and strong reports about the new approaches that we will find out about on Monday night.

Courses, the cheapest way to gain qualification?

When I did the 17th, spent £400 odd, to spend the weekend with some bloke reading out bits of BS 7671, handing out some Q&A's, bit of discussion, followed by C&G on-line exam. I'd be hard pushed to justify that to my picky customers.

Nice idea but..... do they actually take note? or are they just out to generate as much revenue as possible ?

I don't know, but if everyone takes that kind of approach then nothing will ever change.
It's the same as the ridiculous number of people who don't vote in elections because they think that their one little vote doesn't matter.

421.1.7 Arc fault detection devices conforming to BS EN 62606 may be used to provide additional protection against fire caused by arc faults in AC final circuits.

I'm tired, can anyone see anything further to this regarding AFDD's?

542.1.201 is interesting.

Time to buy shares in copper! Looks like copper rods to every installation regardless of earthing arrangements unless I'm reading this wrong. Should be fun in a terraced house with no garden!
