Just looked at a some sockets in a tower block looks like the wiring is in black enamel conduit . The sockets are not bushed in but have bent over 'teeth' (one large two smaller,on opposite sides) to join to the black metal back box to the conduit . Has anybody seen this and what is the best way...

Went to look at wiring up a new shower last night but the customers old shower had the connections at the bottom and the new one has them near the top.
Consequently, the previous DIYer or (ahem) Tradesman, has cut them tighter than a Gnat's Chuff.
Is it O.K to just join out in the shower unit...
