Hi All. First time poster here looking for some advice. I have been having issues with a GFCI breaker being tripped whenever we have very close lightening. Here is the current wiring configuration:
20amp GFCI at the panel. This circuit runs outside and powers the pool pump and a receptacle...
I have a 20 amp GE gfi breaker that pops at least once a month in the middle of the night. Only has bathroom lights on it. New switches installed, wiring looks fine. Could the breaker be faulty.
Hello experts!
I ran some 6AWG wiring from my electrical service panel for a 240V outlet in my garage. The builder had provided an empty junction box with a conduit to the panel. So, all I did was fish the 4 wires and added a 50A breaker for the NEMA 14-50 outlet. See the attached picture.
My...
Hi, can anybody walk me through on the CEC side on figuring out the breaker and wire size for a 240V, 15.7kW electric furnace. I am an electrician and have not worked on residential for a while.
Thank you.
Hi ther
I'm fitting a new IKEA kitchen for my father and have insta Ed a new cooker switch. When testing with cooker breaker off I was sill seeing 9.6v on my multimeter. As I individually switched other breakers off I saw the voltage decrease witheach breaker till i switched off the main...
I had solar installed professionally 3 years ago. The home is 10 years old and has 3 AFCI breakers for bedrooms. One AFCI circuit was hardly used. A new mini fridge was plugged into the rarely used circuit. The mini fridge (60 watt) now causes the AFCI breaker to intermittently trip. I moved...
I was asked to "just fit a bigger breaker" by a plumber who had installed an electric shower for a customer. Bit surprised he hadn't finished the task but I arrived with a DIN rail full of conventional, spring fitted MCB's. I've seen a fair amount of old kit (East London rentals are full of the...
I am trying to move into a house that has been vacant for 2 years. I called the power company because the power isn't working. They sent someone out, but said the meter is good and we need to hire a electrician.
The electrician came out and used a device to see if power was coming out. It...
Hello,
I been having an issue with my breaker to my pool pump tripping. It's an odd scenario that two electricians are unable to provide a resolution. My pool pump is on one breaker and I can run the pump for 24/7 with no issues. My heat pump is on another breaker and when I put my heat pump...
From a brief bit of Internet research my understanding is earth leakage circuit breakers monitor voltage on the CPC rather than an inbalance in current between L &N as an RCD does. Is this correct?
Installing an over the range microwave, ran the (yellow) wire to the box, but where can I attach the ground and neutral wires? The one bus on the right is full, the second bus on the right is empty, but can I use it? Nothing else is attached to it.
A really simple question. I'm sat here with my coffee and getting confused by it!
7.4kW EVCP. Would I fit a 32A or 40A RCBO? Not concerned with anything else, as it's all sorted, but the fact that the 7.4kW equates to 32.17A has thrown me. I was just going to use a 32A RCBO, but really I should...
I have a square D panel(QOC16UF) with a 20 amp breaker(plus others). This breaker is too small to handle the various outlets and light fixtures in the small kitchen and living room. I purchased a 30 amp breaker and wonder if I can unscrew the front panel from the wall, turn off the main breaker...
I tried removing a socket. I turned off the power, I snipped the wires off, covered with electrical tape, put those plastic twist nobs on the end each wire individually. Then tucked it all into the "socket hole. I have a plastic cover with no holes i'll be screwing over to cover the whole job...
Looking to possible add a double breaker in the box to open up some space for a swimming pool without needing to add a sub panel. Any advice on breakers they might sell?
Hi --
I have a series of 5 pot lights, 10-12 years old, in my kitchen, installed (not by me) when the kitchen was redone in 2010. Never had a problem with them, but now all of a sudden they trip the breaker every time I turn them on.
I replaced the halogens with LED bulbs almost 2 years ago...
I purchased a 2020 tiny home in November of 2020. Since then I have had one 15 amp arc fault breaker tripping frequently. The arc fault light comes on when reset. Another 15 amp arc fault breaker has also tripped a couple of times, but not nearly as often. I have checked outlets and...
