Hello,
Planning the new kitchen and trying to work out how disruptive some of the rewiring will be (got to get someone in to move a few sockets and add one for the fridge). It has dawned on me that there is no existing supply for an extractor hood/fan (the one that goes above the cooker). So I...
hi guys
got asked a question today if it is possible to install an access panel in the ceiling to access extractor fan motor that is within the ceiling
iv done some research but cannot find anything on this.
I'm sure that if it is possible it would need to be moisture resistant.
thanks
joe
Hi Guys, I have three questions I would appreciate some help with if some kind sould could help me out.
in a nutshell:
I have a timed inline extractor fan I wish to install in the loft (Manrose MF100T) instructions requires it to have 3A fuse fitted (I don't want to open up 'that can of...
Hello,
so Ive got a cable that was removed from the old extractor, it is a grey cable wich has grey/black/brown. The new extractor takes a live and neutral. Wiring is recent, within the last 10 years. What do I do?
I know I should get someone in, but don't have the ££, so hoping you can...

Adding an extractor fan off of a 6A lighting circuit.
Installation instructions specify a local isolator (as I would anyway) so 3 pole isolator will be used.
Switching L SL and N however should I have an FCU upstream of the live?
It would be 6A fused as specified which seems pointless the RCBO...
Please see the attached files, I'm needing some ideas and possibly some out of the box thinking.
This is a surround for an old range cooker in that house of my mate's that I'm rewiring. He's planning to put a range style cooker here but we need to think about extraction. At the top is a...
I rarely do any electrical work anymore and seem to have forgotten most of what I've learned.
Must be my age.
Anyway, I've been asked to add an extractor fan to a bathroom (with timer) I've done this and added a triple-pole isolator.
What I'm asking is; how are the connections made at the...
Hello,
I recently had house re-wired which included bathroom.
While the wiring for an extractor fan / isolation switch for one has been installed no actual extractor fan has been. I was wondering whether this is required to for the Electrician to sign-off/for regulations?

Age old problem of the customer wants to have the bathroom extractor to come on with the bathroom lights but doesn't want the fan to run if just going for a number 1 in the middle of the night o_O
Having a look about I've pretty much decided on an Air flow icon 15 fan with delay start timer...
Hi everyone,
I had an extractor fan fitted in my downstairs toilet yesterday. The fan turns on when the light turns on. The problem is that the fan runs for about 15 minutes after I turn the light off. I only need it to run for a minute or 2.
According to the instructions the electrician left...

Hello all,
I had a professional electrician firm look into this when I was having my house re-wired and they said it wasn't possible, but I'm not so sure!
The scenario is - one large extraction fan in the loft and a set of extraction ducting that has a Y piece in it so it can extract from two...
Hi all
Can anyone recommend a PIR occupancy switch that I can install in my bathroom ceiling above the bath? It will be used to automatically trigger the extractor fan which is loft mounted in-line type. I want it to trigger only when the bath is occupied so the PIR will need to have a narrow...
I've been contacted by a customer who, after having a fire caused by a extractor fan, wants options on bathroom moisture removal. the subsequent refit included a extractor which is permanently switched off at the fan isolator. the room has no windows though. I know their are building regs...
I just realised that I have a ip45 rated extractor fan in my ensuite, located on the ceiling above the shower, that has no rcd protection. It is controlled via a 3 way switch, that also controls downlights and a light above a cabinet. Should I be worried? Is it safe? How urgently should I get a...

Hi all.
When to a job this moring RCD had tripped, narrowed it down to the kitchen sockets, but found that the RCD stayed on for about 20-30 seconds before tipping out. Unplugged everything, so I thought.
Tested the RCD 1x 37ms - 36ms. 5x 11ms - 13ms. Ramp test 19.6 mA.
Then I realised the...
