Hello,
We purchased a plot of land a while ago and we are trying to establish how we can actually connect into the mains transformer mast which is available on site.
Originally we had 3 options. There was a Scottish power owned cable that we could tap into this would cost £4500.00 to link to...

I'm in the process of pricing up a job wiring for a new annex added onto the side of an existing 3 bed house.
I'll be installing interlinked smokes/heat alarms in annex but was unsure whether the existing property would need to be linked to these also?
There will be an internal door that...
Hi All,
Wondering peoples thoughts on the V Phase units?
We have been asked by a company to install one but upon receipt of the unit and going over install guide the suggested circuits that can be installed on it are sockets and lighting pretty much.
IF as they suggest in their configuration...

Hi guys
When periodically testing a property what depth do you test the system?
Is it the same as an install? tests all points (exceptions to ones that can be access) and does the test sequence have to be followed from GN3. Dead test then live tests.
Thank you

Working on a job today supplying power from a garage to a powered sliding gate.
When digging a trench I have come across the DNO cable only dug in about 6-8" in the ground with no warnings or nothing else on it.
It comes from the nearest telegraph pole and is cleated to the side before going...
I hope someone can help.
I've taken on a large project, new build oak frame house. Customer happy to pay deposit and then money at completion of first fix. Completion of second fix has been delayed as they've run out of money to complete parts of the building but a large part of the second...
I've been asked to carry out a test for my sister in law, they need it so that they can sell the house. Am I right in assuming that I just need to carry out an EICR? Do they require anything more than this? I'm NIC DI approved but this doesn't cover EICR's so didn't know if I would have to be...
With the weather and power outages recently, I have a customer who has bought a 6kw generator he wanted to 'plug' into his consumer unit so when the power goes off he can use the backup. He wants me to fit.
I want to check I have covered everything before I start. There are a few points I...
Can anyone clarify this. I have been informed that ELECSA defines Landlord (i.e. Rental property) as commercial property, & therefore not covered by their Part P scheme. Does anyone have any experience of this?
It seems strange that Domestic rented property is not covered by the ELECSA Part P...
Hi all again
I'm doing another condition report for a property, no cpc for sockets, cooker lighting, what's the best way to test continuity, I'm thinking of doing the same way as R1+ R2 line to earth terminal, also would you record results in r2 box or R1+ R2 box, I'm having a bad day
Hi All,
I hope am in the right place for this question.
We live in a rented property and have recently been having some issues with the downstairs lighting in particular, this has been passed on to the agent but nothing has been done as of yet. I personally don't think it is right and passed...

Over 2 years ago a friend rented a house, After a brief look, the dangers were apparent. At the mains a TT system with small bonding cables, and no RCD just a Henley block fitted where the is a shadow mark the size of an old voltage operated trip, then rewireable fuses. Round the house every...
Would like to inspect & test domestic property, & issue Certification accordingly.
1. Do I have to join one of these schemes?
2. What are the economic considerations, i.e. in the long run is it in my interest to be in one of the schemes?
3. If so, which one would be best for me (I am...
