it's possible that the L feed to these under cupboard lights comes from another circuit. rather a borrowed L than a borrowed N.
Tel that's post stealing at its finest :30:

Where are the under unit lights switched from? I had a similar problem once . They picked the live from the kitchen switch and a neutral from a kitchen socket.
This maybe true mate mate link from main kitchen common to under hint commonit's possible that the L feed to these under cupboard lights comes from another circuit. rather a borrowed L than a borrowed N.
Sounds good to me mate I will check and test tomorrow mate appreciate guysTenner says its a borrowed neutral , you say that there is a link at the 2 gang kitchen switch , as already mentioned the neutral has got to be from another circuit fed from the other RCD, most likely the kitchen sockets .
This is exactly the reason why pre-testing is so important and should be as important a job as making sure the kettle is boiled before you kill the power. test test and test again
And a pan full of water on the hob..... just in case
Hey little bit of advise, type your post up in word, then go away for 10 mins or so, then come back and read it, edit it then post it.

thinking even further in front / I like it
But make sure you have a lighter or matches in case it is an electric ignitor
Evening gents bit of advice required please I have recently finished a partial rewire (upstairs sockets upstairs lights and smokes). All is fine apart from when I turned under unit lights on in kitchen it tripped both rcds. There is 1 2 gang switch in kitchen 1 for main kitchen light and 1 for under unit I have taken link out from main light switch the under unit light switch and this rectified the problem no tripping but when I put link back in both tripped again and ideas guys cheers by the way pretty new to the game so be nice
Under unit lights mate no live feed to them because I took link outI'm curious how you located this. That said you say it stopped the tripping, but what isn't working now?
Spot on cheers mate appreciate responseSo the supply for your undercupboard lights should be fused down from the sockets and the line from the fused down sockets goes to the switch for the undercupboard lights and you are sorted.
Alternatively get a neutral from the kitchen lights to supply the undercupboard lights and leave the switch as it is.
154Mohm is fine.
