EICR codes

Thoughts on the following; no main bond to gas mains (C1), spur spurred of a spur on a ring (C2) & numerous inaccessible sockets for kitchen appliances under worktop with no switched spurs above worktop for isolating sockets (C3). Been a while since I've done an EICR! Thanks in advance.

Is this a Report someone else has done or opinions for a Report of your own. I would C2 the first two and probably wouldn't comment on the sockets.

I think your main bonding to gas is a little drastic as there is no danger present, only potentially dangerous?

No gas bond would be a C2, it's not immediately dangerous. I agree with the spur from a spur, but the last one I would probably not code as I can't think of a reg to justify it really.

Gas bond, C2.
Unfused spur with 2 outlets, maybe a C2 at most, depending on likely loads dependent on their location.
Appliance sockets, no code.

The last item is a non compliance with the Scottish Building Stadards. Don't know about your Part P thingy. I'd just mention it in the accompanying correspondence to customer as it's outwith the EICR

Code 1 - according to our niceic area supervisor there are only 3 situations 1 - live exposed conductors 2- incorrect polarity 3 - there was one other cant remember any ideas

But lack of gas bonding is NOT a live conductor ..... so its the NICEIC making up daft rules again....

no sorry for confusion i didnt mean that the bonding was a code 1 obviously that is only a code 2 , i was just commenting that there are only 3 situations where you use code 1

Coding is personal opinion, whilst some situations will warrant a specific Coding in most people's eyes it is not for the NICEIC to band about what should be this, that or the other because situations can be variable.

Then again, NICEIC registered electricians should follow the NICEIC guidelines.

Finding a connection burning would get a code 1 , But then i wou,d make it safe at the time of the inspection as i would with any code 1, so now i have made it safe is it a code 1 any more ???

yes you are obligated to rectify and code 1 on site which then will not stay as code 1 but i would put on report code 1 rectified in order to be able to charge additional .
