house supply 100A tns 32A mcb feeding garage(10mm swa buried ) 100A board.. currently with lights on 6A and sockets on 20A ....customer wants massive hottub installed in garage ....problem is manual says requires 2 x 32 A supply for tub ........any suggestions ?

Do you have a picture? 2 x 32amp might mean L&N conductors to the unit.

If it is only 32amp, upgrade the MCB size to the garage ( if possible, assessing conditions )

Then you can run the original stuff + Hottub

It's hard to tell what is actually being said in the instructions. 2 separate cables or 2 separates cores? Are you an electrician?
I wouldn't imagine the thing needs 2 x 32amp supply. It's only a couple of pumps and a heating element.

If it does need 2x32a supplies then they'll have to cough for a bigger sub to the garage or get a smaller hot tub that fits with the present supply. There's no alternatives.

I have come across a hot tub with 2 supplies needed, was in garden of a scrap metal dealer who fancied himself as a bit of a local celeb living the big life. It needed 2 cables, cant remember what rating MCB but each cable did different things, one supply cable was the heating system and the other did pumps, sound and lights... the hot tub was like a mini swimming pool and could take several large adults or in his case young ladies charging by the hour! only learned this as he wanted sockets down by his BBQ area and had to work out why the hot tub had two supplies in the consumer unit for outdoors as it confused me and then boss no ends. I still do not see point of underwater speakers!

Just a thought on the op's post is that the hot tub could be a foreign model thats been imported as a lot of the US models are designed for multiple wires and often have 2 lives one neutral and one earth, its less likely on Uk models unless very large with separate spa/hot tub compartments within the hot tub as in my example.

Yep,that preliminary spec, sounds very American, and can usually be translated back in to our reference language, and a decision made.

USA alleged 240 gear - only insulated to 120v !

Inverted 120V phases (or similar, whatever correct terms are)
120-0-120 where 0 = Neutral

£13K plus an enormous electricity bill - must have some cash your customer.

I would tell them to better spend the money on a taste and style refining course they will then realise said hot tub and current lifestyle adornments need addressing.

I dont care if its classy or not but I could easily see myself sat in one of them on a nice summers day surrounded by nice women in bikinis, but then realise id have to be a drug dealer to afford it and also pay for the electric unless i bypass the meter or piggy back off the street lights :)

I'm thinking service connector block, a 63A sw fuse, 10 or 16mm swa depending on installation method and distance. Just to try to minimise house lights dimming when warp drive is engaged.[/QUOTE

My problem is with overload....whenever this is on full power and house is in full use ...will it constantly trip?

Yes I can picture one of those out front on the Royal Crescent next to the wheelie bins.
nah you are all wrong, wheelie bins are around back of the crescent out of site of the tourists and the hotel guests. besides in bath we have naturally hot springs and a rooftop infinity pool heated by nature in the spa.. its great on a winters evening...

If they run the shower and the cooker and then fire up the Enterprise it might get a bit busy ... could be the first house to use 100A :)

i'd not do it. i like polar bears too much.

So would any of you install this ..or tell customer he needs new supply

Yeah, as said in a previous post. Tap off the mains supply from the house with a switched fuse unit and supply it like that.
If they want it installed it can be done. There will be definitely be a little diversity to be applied, it won't take the full whack.

Yes I don't see the problem that you are obviously seeing
The only issue the customer may have is when it is first filled or filled after a clean which only happens around once every 6 months with the quantity of water specified heaters could be running for couple of days or more to get up to temperature. My mates hottub takes around 1600 litres of water and takes around 18 - 24 hours to get from cold tap temperature to 40°C after a full clean.
The key to low energy use with a hottub is to keep it covered when it is not being used so the heat isn't being lost and keep the pH and chemical levels right so the water changes are kept to a minimum
The insulation on hottubs is quite good and with a cover on lose very little heat as an example a few years ago my mates tub developed a fault the outside temperature at the time was between 2°C and -2°C after 48 hours with no heaters or pumps running the water temp had dropped from 40°C to 25°C

So the biggest problem is likely to be the customer not looking after the water or using the wrong chemicals, chlorine can be very aggressive on the components in a hottub
