Hi !

I have installed 2 new circuits to a fuseboard (lighting + ring main) for an extension and upon testing have discovered that both the RCD's on the split load board have failed.

Can you still issue a cert with these failures noted or do you have to get them sorted before a cert is issued?

Why wouldn't you just replace the faulty units? and everything is then A-ok.

If you have added 2 circuits to someone's home and now the RCD's aren't working, I would expect you to get it sorted. If they weren't working before, then tell the homeowner that they have failed and need replacing. Seems odd tho that both would fail...

Do you mean failed as in will not turn on since you have added these circuits if so then check where you have connected the neutrals..
Or do you mean failed as in failed on your testing. have you tried ramp testing them??

Interesting, I would disconnect the new circuits and test the RCDs. to assure myself that the new circuits have been wired correctly.
I assume the RCDs were working before the new circuits were added?
