I think that is the preferred thought out there from the viewpoint of the quango self appointed emperors of the electrical domain, but sadly legislation does not support them in that. You have been educated and have experience and therefore qualify with any legal definition or regulatory definition of a competent person.had to be certified and registered with niceic or napit
I thought to test and inspect the individual had to be certified and registered with niceic or napit
To some degree, I agree. It's pretty basic but it's like every subject, some people know more than others....but might not know some things that the others know. It's staggering that there still remains so much confusion and mythology on this subject

Hence, asking on here.
All true, but the States of Jersey may have different laws on this. From what I remember when working there Jersey is quite highly regulated for electrical works. You can carry out inspection and testing, and issue certificates as long as you are competent.
You do not need to do any course to be able to do this.

Because the national flag of Jersey is displayed on his profile. I saw no mention of London, but will look again in case I missed it.Most countries around the globe have different rules, but the OP is in London so England's rules apply.
What on earth are you talking about Jersey for?
No country flag showing on your avatar. Aren’t you sure? All true, but the States of Jersey may have different laws on this. From what I remember when working there Jersey is quite highly regulated for electrical works.
It does make you wonder, working on a job with a hundred properties involved. It is true some people know more than others, and nobody knows everything. but in this case a person only needs to know how to read and how to find a copy of part P online to be able to find out the facts for themselves.
