Discuss Need a serial to usb for megger PAT 4 in the Electrical Testing & PAT Testing Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

From experience, Serial to USB converters with an FTDI chipset will work fine with the Megger PAT4.

Remember that in addition to the Serial to USB converter you need to use the Megger Download cable connected inline as the wiring between pins in the download cable is essential. It also ensures you have a female to plug into the Male RS232 on the PAT4.

I think you will struggle with a generic lead. This is the wiring diagram I have for the Megger PAT4 Serial Cable.

I beleive the critical pins are 2 and 3 twisted with 4 to 6 and 8 tied.
