When I was told you can add to a circuit without rcd or bonding,the only thing I can relate it to is coding no rcd as c3 rather than being c2, which I originally would have coded it as
 
Obviously best to put rcbo in but chances of it not tripping on old install...
Alex I don't think it's a good idea to try and get away with not fitting an RCD because you think it might trip due to an existing fault! o_O
 
Not saying it's a reason not to put it in,just meaning to say that it is something else to fix, rathher than spurring off socket on other side of wall,looks like it will be a case of what i was going to do and change existing socket to rcd spur and move socket to side and add addit8onal socket with both being on load side- but bedroom sockets so no real load
