Small 230v stick welder.

one of the fitters has fetched me a welder where he has welded threw or melted the earth cable, and main stick weld cable it is currently 10mm2 cable, my question is can i use 16mm2 tri-rated or does have it to be "proper" welding cable (as it seems rather expensive for a drum of it)

"proper" welding cable has much finer strands and a tougher sheath than tri-rated but as long as they accept it will not last quite as long, it will be fine.

You don’t say the current and cable length. A small set I’d go for 35mm. don’t use the aluminium, it’s rubbish.

not sure on the current ratings, all markings on the top have wore away, cable length only 1m ish ive put on some 16mm tri rated on, gonna order some real welding cable this week

Normally have a data plate (on the back?) that will give input/output current etc.

You can buy welding cable by the metre, you don't have to buy a full roll.
