Okay, we're taking a solar heating matting system off the roof of a shed to install solar PV. The current swimming pools heating system doesn't seem to be working correctly and the owner would prefer PV instead. Good call.

Does anyone know anything about these systems? I'm assuming that I can drain the water from the system and simply join the existing feed and return pipes together?

This is the stuff they have currently: Poolsolar swimming pool solar matting heating system

All the heaters I've seen like that have a bypass valve arrangement usually on the wall between the supply pipe and the return pipes.

Yes usually you'll have a buy pass loop installed, however if not you ll find that the existing pipe is of an odd size (escapes my mind what is at this moment) but you can pick up the fittings and pipe form PTS (my last place of purchase) next day delivery.

Are they going to add in an Air Source Heat Pump? Just work out the COP with A14/W29 Massive :) Make sure it's properly designed to run a swimming pool c/w the correct heat exchangers (DON'T TOUCH DREAM ) aand with the PV they are on to a winner, - Add in the very latest ImmerSUN II with the latest software and it can even control the heat pump (minm trigger level, mininum on, minimum off - run via a contactor)

does the immersun control have a minimum on time for the relay to stop the heat pump being switched on and off too frequently?

re the pool, is it direct, or has it got a heat exchanger between the 2 circuits? if the latter then just remove the matting and drain, and leave the exchanger in the circuit for the pool.

Yep it does, and at the end of that period it will then check to see if still sufficient, if so carries on, if importing, then switches off, and won't switch on again until the minumum off times has passed and it is generating sufficient excess.

Just be careful some of the wholesalers may not yet have the units with the latest software version installed, they may still have stocks of the older version. So you may need to pay official trade and buy direct from 4eco.
