Hi all, I know there was a post about this the other day but I can't find it. Does anyone know what breakers fit Proteus boards? Got some additions to do tomorrow and I forgot to look at the form factor of the breakers, and I'm certainly not going to go into a bloody City to buy Proteus tosh. Are they kinda standard Wylex/crabtree type or do they have weird fittings?

Thanks guys.

P.S. sorry this isn't in the products section, but I'm after a quick response:rolleyes:

Cause your a spark I just went and checked my box of mcb's the ones I use for my private jobs what building control don't know about lol

Anyway, as you know Chint are city's own make like proteous and they fit, also hagar and wylex appear to be the same mould as well, hope this helps.

Just as a follow up to this, the breakers were Proteus 'Geyer', and they were din rail mounted with a standard 'bottom loading' busbar connection, kinda like Wylex. The connection point is a few mil closer to the front than Wylex- not as far forward as Schneider or LG, and you can shoehorn a Wylex/Crabtree/Newlec etc in, but they are a closer fit to GE Series E breakers.

chint are noting to do with city!!! they are totally independant and stocked at all BAD wholesalers!! :)

however on another note rocker i will gladly tell you that proteous MCB fit proteous boards!! hahahaha!! what size you need as i think i have some kicking around!!

M2 are citys own make and are identicle to the domestic proteus just with a different name , but what you have to be carefull of is the manufacturers if they say only use there MCB then where do you stand if there a problem , i do mix and match the volex crabtree and wylex as these ae the same just labled differently

Cheers guy, I managed to get some GEs into it in the end.

Proteus? What a load of old Chint!

You can order the correct second hand older MCB's etc of all makes to match from flea bay, it will then comply with manufacturers instructions and they will fit well so long as they are in good working order.

I would hope that the OP has sorted it by now, he has had two years to do it, even a Electrical Trainee would have come up with some sort of solution in that time. . . .
