Yeah another noob question. But the red bible keeps talking about it and after doing a bit of googling im still none the wiser. So if possible please enlighten me, perhaps give an example and if you can tell me the difference between an exposed conductive part, thx :)

P.S be prepared for more noob ?????s

Have a look at the definitions of both 'conductive parts' and 'extraneous conductive parts' in the BRB section Lenny has given and the differences will be clear......The key part of the definition of 'Extraneous conductive parts' to lodge on a permanant basis in your grey matter is the bit which says......."liable to introduce a potential, usually earth"......Most of the confusion over bonding issues comes from not getting that bit.

The key part of the definition is that the conductive part is "... liable to introduce a potential, generally Earth potential, and not forming part of the electrical installation."

The way I remember what it means is due to my poor spelling i.e. exterraineous meaning a bit that is exiting the earth or is in physical connection with the earth. This means metal pipe work, steel structures, spiral staircases etc that are either sticking out of the ground, or bolted to the ground, and are not part of the electrical installation are identified as extraneous-conductive-parts.

"exterraineous"

Yet another forum created gem of a word

think that is the correct term for aliens. or is that extraterraineous?
