Hi all,
I have a commercial premises (school) that requires installation of main bonding at a block which is an outbuilding from the main school.
Now the bonding in the main school is 50mm, however the cable feeding this outbuilding is just a 25mm 4core.

Looking for a bit of advice here. I am replacing the CU which is currently in a shower room. Now, don't gasp too hard, it's not as bad as it sounds. The shower is in a totally enclosed cubicle with a good extractor, and the room never gets steamy or has condensation. The existing CU is in a...

Hi - first post.
I am going to carry out a sub main installation from a main CU in the house, to a garage, (15m from main CU to garage sub board).
The CU in the house has no RCD protection.
The garage will have a local TT, and the sub board will have 30mA RCD as main switch.
The SWA cable...

Hi,
I have just been to a job today to provide power to an outbuilding, 75 meters down the garden.
The supply is PME, I plan on splitting the tails into a henley block and then into a switched fuse, then 16mm SWA from there all the way down the garden, at 600mm under the lawn.
The building is...
Hi all.
As I understand it, exported earth is only an issue for PME situations? Therefore, when a domestic installation is a TT and power is to be brought out to a remote outbuilding, is there a requirement to fit a second earth electrode and if so, should this be independent of the house TT...

As a scam inspection piece I'm looking at a rewire of my folks garage.
Going to be a really simple job, just adding a few sockets and updating the CU to a 17th edition board.
The supply to the building is a 15ish metre run of SWA from the main CU, sheath earthed to the MET.
Oddly though, it...
Hi All, first time on the forum and looking forward to learning loads of good stuff from the experienced sparkies.
I recently gained 2382 & 2392 qualifications and am now trying to get experience in the real world.

Do you guys think that the majority of electricians actually bother using the adiabatic equation to decide whether the cpc of a T&E cable is adequate when supplying a CU in a garage/shed, or do most people just size the cable based on CCC and voltdrop?
I come across a lot of T&E strung between...
