Discuss Changes to FIT coming sooner that we thought! in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Whatever they save in FIT money they will pay out in dole money.

Most likely taxes will be increased as all this tidal and wind stuff is from Germany, Norway and Sweden so no jobs in that sector either.

If this is the case, I will pack up my Solar PV side of the business, and F#%K the MCS, it wont be worth doing, its not like I have invested time and money into it either, typical goverment moving the goal posts yet again!

Feel sorry for the people who have not even got an install in yet or are so consumed by getting prepared for inspection will be totally unaware!

As a potential customer who has taken some time to do research and seek out the craftsmen from the cowboys, it seems that I have now left it until too late. I know that investing in the stock market is not for everyone but it is possible to get an after tax return of 5-6% with some of the FTSE 100 companies and similar (but perhaps riskier) smaller companies. I now feel rather sorry for those who have invested in this technology, both installers who may find themselves with little or no work and customers who, when they need after sales support (as they inevitably will) find that their installer is no longer in business. It's also interesting to note that the seriously rich who can allow the big suppliers to put wind turbines on their land-David Cameron's father-in-law comes to mind-will continue to prosper from the green energy revolution; the rest of us will continue to pay for it one way or another. What a disgraceful farce.

The good thing is I suppose is that Ill not have to pay NAPIT and REAL next year as Ill not be doing renewables anymore

I think as a heating installer you will.

I see in the next few weeks some good deals to be had buying panels and not taking on the installs which are tricky but are more profitable.

I know for sure theres plenty of companies with warehouse's full of panels who shant be sleeping the next few weeks.

Is it really going to be this bad. I'm doing my heat pump assessment on the 24th November and was looking at a solar assessment in the new year. Will it knock the stuffing out of the solar market that badly?

Ive had very little interest in heat pumps seeing as the powers that be haven't yet decided if Air source will be included in the RHI, Solar thermal is a non starter and now Solar PV has been hit. MCS is surely nearing the end of the road?

How popular is that at the moment? I know Solar hot water isnt recommended as you have to have an immersion to boost the temp.

I chose my installer after reading informed comments by a Valued Member on this forum.Chris and Dave were truly excellent in all the work they did.Everyone who has seen the installation is impressed with the appearance and workmanship.I'm very sorry if small firms like this are forced to close as a result of the lower tariff. On the other hand, it's a classic govenment ploy to leak horrendous figures like this, and when the actual rate is decided it may not be quite so bad, and we'll all feel grateful..I do hope so, for the sake of all the honest, hard working guys who make up the majority of this industry

Reading some theories in other areas. These being:

1) The FITs where never going to last 8% ROI,
2) Companies won't go out of business by the boat load, they will become more efficient and prices will lower enticing more people to have a install,
3) Lots of land is being released for affordable housing and renewables will be massively important.

I've got another job but I am being positive there is still a, potential, massive market in renewables. Its about staying in the business for now.

I actual don't think its over, I have invested a lot of time into developing this side of our business. For sure it changes the business model, but you have to adapt. What angers me are all the cowboys, who use Easy MSc and the likes to just frankly skim the market.
I have done secret shoppers on other installers to see what the competitions up to; it’s shocking what turns up. Ex-window sales men or actual window sales men, all the chat no survey just sales, nothing about my energy needs, draw my roof on a scrap of paper then say yep 17 panels (235W). I hope they leave this industry as quickly as they turned up.

Its right Solar PV should form part of holistic energy efficiency of a home, we actual monitor consumption on our survey and offer advice on how to lower energy.
What’s wrong is for the Government not to have a longer change over period, they should stop the Free solar outfits straight away.

"What angers me are all the cowboys, who use Easy MSc and the likes to just frankly skim the market"

If you get accreditation then you get it.What you do with it is up to you.Easy MCS only help you .They don't do it for you

I've been racing around like a headless chicken all day and I've been bombarded with emails from worried customers. We've set up a 40 day plan which will be thrown completely off skew by nothing more than a few days of heavy wind and rain - in November.

If Greg Barker could take a look at how his messing around is affecting us all he would be ashamed. Tory governments have never had any idea how to treat initiative and innovative tradesmen and they've screwed us all once again. Meanwhile, Tube Train drivers are earning 45k a year for riding around on their giant train sets, billions of pounds are being spent on Velodromes, Kayaking rivers and Beach Volley courts that no one will ever use and a giant stadium is being built in London that no one wants.
