Discuss Metal blanks in AMD 3 boards in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I thought the metal boards where not to contain it but to stop the board from melting and causeing more problems like dripping plastic onto the carpet and setting that on fire.

It says as far as I know... the cable installation entry method shall, as far as is reasonably practicable, maintain the fire containment of the enclosure.

Depends on who you listen to. I watched one of those Certsure 'web air' vids, soon after 421.1.201 draft was realised, and they stated the intention was to remove the plastic as a source of combustion.

But then if you read the IET's 'wiring matters 55' on the subject, 'The intent of Regulation 421.1.201 is considered to be, as far as is reasonably practicable, to contain any fire within the enclosure or cabinet and to minimise the escape of flames'.

We had fish last night.

If the CU manufacturers actually built quality products, then the considerations of AMD3 boards wouldn't be necessary.

Bring back main incoming switches, mounted on the main frame of the unit with 2 screws for the tails................... they never went up in flames or melted............

I just had fish pie tonight, well two of them actually. No idea what kind of fish it was, but it definitely smelled and tasted fishy. All covered in mashed potato and loads of ketchup.
It might have tasted fishy but I didn't say it tasted good. :(
