I'm a fully qualified self employed electrician with a gold card but wanting to make the jump to start doing my own jobs I have been getting the company I subcontract to, to sign my work off for now. I'm so confused with the cps scheme stuff, I realise that domestic work needs to be notifiable but what about commercial/industrial do I need to be in a cps scheme?
I'm currently doing a little job on the side it's a new beauty salon but it's got an apartment above it. It's got a 100A supply into the building and split into two meters one feeding the new beauty salon and one feeding the apartment, would the beauty salon be classed as a commercial premise or domestic as its a single phase supply ? Would this have to be notifiable?

The salon is commercial and therefore not notifiable.
The apartment is a dwelling and is subject to Part P and certain works are notifiable.
If they were on the same meter, then it would have to be treated as one installation, and Part P would apply to the whole installation.
Maybe you should download the Part P document, it's a free download.

Thanks for that much appreciated 👍
