Well you're buying all MK stuff, which many swear by, but I've never been particularly impressed. While I'll admit the really cheapo stuff can be rubbish, for white accessories I find the mid/mid-low priced stuff perfectly usable and often 1/3 or even 1/4 the price.

Really though, a great tool, I'm using excel on a hell of a lot of things, God knows why I didn't think of this!

Cheers Rocker.

I quite like the MK stuff. I tried Superswitch once at my place as I have no cpc on my lighting circuit and superswitch have the blanking thingies to cover the screws, but they look quite cheap, I think. Also I find that customers like hearing the name MK and seeing it on a quote, as its something they have heard of and trust etc.. Saying that I have no interest in MK CCUs!! lol! Give me a Wylex any day!!
When all is said and done you only need to look at the xl sheet to see that the cost of the materials is almost irrelevant when you tot up how much I charge to install them!! lol! Ooh did I say that out loud?!! :D

I think thats a reasonable price indeed. I would have quoted £3500- £3800 to be honest as its occupied.

Good luck with the job my friend.

Pistol Pete.

Cheers Pete! I'll keep my fingers crossed; not heard back yet, but only dropped the quote in on Thursday night.

Ha ha nice. I've heard a lot about customers liking and trusting MK stuff, and when I was just starting I used to do two quotes, one with MK one with standard. Maybe people round here are less educated but never had an MK request so stopped bothering with them. See them a lot in things I'm taking off, don't know if that's a coincidence, and used them on one large job for someone who didn't ask for MK but did want 'expensive ones' where I found the terminal screws to be good but the plastic to be quite brittle.

Totally agree on the C/U front, have done one or two MK sentry boards and while they had a massive amount of room to work in, I hate the poncey busbars. Much prefer Wylex style boards, but again I shop around and on Durham's advice have used a few Proguard boards lately and found them great - slightly (VERY slightly) lower quaity plastics than Wylex and Crabtree (but let's be honest, plastic looks tacky regardless) but otherwise spot on.

Last "domestic" job i did the guy speced Wandsworth ffs we let him get the stuff expensive n wasnt the best to work with either but hey the clear plate over the paper insert to match the paint of the walls pernikkity plonker

Hi Matt I would have sent you a PM, but my post count isn't high enough yet, so sorry to threadjack. I wondered if I could have a look at your spreadsheet, in exchange for one I currently use. I'm always interested in other peoples excel goodies as sometimes there are things I can incorporate into my own. I'd be more than happy to send you a copy of mine if your interested

Drop me a line, my email is [email protected]

just dropped you an email to ask for a copy of your sheet so i can use it (and rockers) to build my own.

thanks

Any chance I could jump on the bandwagon and have a look at this spreadsheet as well??

I can pm you my email if you like?

Cheers :)

thanks mattcos and voltimax your spreadsheets are great and are helping me to clear up in my own mind what I want mine to eventually look like, currentlyy my expectations and the reality of what I want are a bit tooo far appart (seems like I am my own worst IT client)
