but i'm only 71. was planning to retire at 80. just got to kick start lungs in the morning with a smoke, whack the old knees with a hammer, good for a bit yet.Do it Tel, you have earnt it. Make the most of the valuable time you have here. You know when its time to call it a day, seems like that time is now.
going to concentrate on the smaller jobs now. state pension just about covers essentials ..... beer and smokes. for luxuries like food and bills, i need to work. The thing is Tel, after a really knackering job like that you really do feel totally fed up, and with this weather loft spaces are evil places to be in ! I expect you'll bounce back again as you're a proper old school tradesman and could miss it. You should also have time to relax and enjoy life but you could maybe take on the odd nice little job, good for beer money. Most importantly please stay on here, you're very entertaining !
I'd be giving into to pure knackerdness going in and out five lofts in this weather ducking and diving in lofts its enough to make a grown man bite his own head off rather than face that!think it's time i gave in to old age.
I fell victim to that stuff about 25 years ago in a small pub in the Lake District. It wasn't even draft, they literally dunked your pint glass in the barrel to fill it. I think I had 8 or 9 glasses and it was all over, I woke up at 8am the next day face down in the middle of a car park covered in snow and with a case of amnesia.....he has theakstons old peculier on draft.....

Sorry to hear that Tel, Good luckafter sweating all weekend adding 7 sounders to a fire alarm, most awkward cable routing ever, 5 separate loft areas in 18th C pub. think it's time i gave in to old age.

Just don 't overdo things Mate, not really worth mkng yourself ill now, is it? With your experience, you could always go into teaching at a Electrical Trainee establishment.it's OK Pete. i'll bounce back . amazing how a few pints of theakston's OP changes one's outlook.
never over do the beer, Pete. just a steady 2 or 3 pints each day.Just don 't overdo things Mate, not really worth mkng yourself ill now, is it?
Now you know I wasn't on about the beer, don't you?never over do the beer, Pete. just a steady 2 or 3 pints each day.
already done. my son helps out with any jobs that are either too strenuous or 2 man jobs. he's only available at weekends though. mon.-fri he's wiring up artics and trailers.Rather than put your tools and test equipment away what about employing a young apprentice to do the the more athletic and difficult to access parts of a job? What knowledge and experience you have to impart and it is very rewarding watching a youngster grow in skill and confidence. A bit of company too and he/she would keep you young in heart and mind.
i'm already 70+ with or without the heat. today is a day off, relax with a beer or 3, maybe a session in the hot tub, a bit of .22 target practice, might even be roast pigeon for supper.this heat is making me feel 70+.................................
Age is only a number Tel, or so you told me some time ago, but I have to say, with this weather I'm feeling my agei'm already 70+ with or without the heat. today is a day off, relax with a beer or 3, maybe a session in the hot tub, a bit of .22 target practice, might even be roast pigeon for supper.
