Job today to change out old fusebox and I'd noted the 16mm tails but on pulling the fuse this morning it was 100A which I wasn't expecting. Fairly recent new smart meter installed by XYZ who are also the DNO ... Shouldn't the fuse be limited to 60A in this case? Thoughts and advice appreciated :)

We have a new 3 phase 200A supply installed which is to supply 4 flats & a low load landlord supply. We need to source 95mm singles that will connect from the ukpn 3 phase head into a stand alone isolator which will then connect into a 3 phase distribution board that will supply the 4 flat...

Hi everyone, I am not an electrician and have joined this forum for some help. Here is some background information to my incident:-

Electricity meter replaced by electricity supplier 12 January 2004
Consumer unit upgraded 16 January 2008...
How would you code the following?
No RCD protection. I coded c2
Not amendment 3 compliant. I coded C3
Meter tails 16mm. I coded C3
Tested the installation and the test results were all compliant with BS7671.
I've used 150, 185 and 240mm trip flex on large installs before contained in metal trunking.
Is there any reason I can't use 35mm for a 100amp 3phase install contained in plastic trunking? Bend radius and access is going to be tricky and a pain with solid core.
Went on a job today to an HMO to replace a broken cctv camera outside.
the landlord of the house is too tight with his wallet to change the consumer unit to an Amendment 3 metal CU. instead he has enclosed the old wylex plastic CU into a metal enclosure. although he is willing to fork out on...
Hi all, I had my assessment the other day and shown him a job with a replacement board. The tails ran up in the cavity wall from the meter box below on the outside of the house and in from the back of the cu, he said that I should seal the hole in the wall where the tails come through into the...
Hi
Just looking for some advice. I've had a new supply and meter fitted on the outside of a building. The supply is for a new consumer on the first floor. The meter tails for this have been run down the outer wall. What trunking would you use to protect these?
Many thanks
Hi all, just wondering where i stand here. Scenario is as follows PME supply, 60a service fuse, 16mm tails running into DP isolator in the meter box. Going to upgrade the CU,no problem with load etc so the 60a fuse is fine. Was going to run new 25mm tails into the Dp isolator. Do the tails from...
What's everyone's thoughts on installing meter tails >3 meters in length.
I've contacted northern power grid who said the tails where down to the electricity suppliers discretion.
Contacted the electricity supplier who didn't give a definite answer, basically do what you want!?
Hi all, what are your thoughts on running new tails from an outdoor recessed meter box, straight through the existing hole into the garage where the CU is situated. Should the hole be enlarged to accommodate some sort or trunking for protection and sealed for fire??? The tails are connected to a...
I'm working in a warehouse and replacing the old fuse boards with a new 3 phase board.
The board will be sitting directly above the buzz bar im not sure if I need to put in an isolator in between them to isolate the 3 phase board?
Thx
Hi. I've recently moved into new house. The meter box and consumer unit are installed in cupboard underneath the stairs, however they are approx. 1.5m apart and the tails are surface mounted. Should they be encased in trunking so as to protect them from damage. Thanks

Hey guys. Wondering if anyone has came across this before and if it is legal? It is several 1.5mm single cores going into the neutral of the main switch. Main fuse etc is several metres away in communal hallway, but is a 16mm meter tail from there.
Cheers

I have a job where SEC are moving the mains cable for the property to allow for change of use of the area. This means that the tails from the new meter box will be through a wall and over 3 mts long. Therefore a Switch fuse /isolator will be required in the new meter box. Does it require the...
Hi,
On site dispute needs sorting.
We have a consumer unit 3m away as in distance (not cable length) from DNO (outside meter box, flush with wall).
We currently have a 25mm 3 core SWA from DNO to consumer unit. Running within the fabric of building and it's protected from the nails and the like...
