Tbf said with tounge in cheek, but saying that policed or not the law is the law and I only think it fair to be straight with the guy - As in I've done my bit by informing him.
And regarding notifiable works from the literature I have it would be notifiable.

IMO, replacing a bit of duff cable is the same as replacing a duff socket/light fitting. as long as it's the same csa, same ( ish) route.

I dont disagree, but I dont know the guy and have'nt seen his work- for all we know he could have used bell wire!! - (sure you didnt ian! btw). I'm very selective as to anything I say regarding tech issue's on a public forum as I dont want a nasty knock on the door with someone saying Its all your fault!!!
