Hello what is the (proper) way to terminate SWA tails into amendment 3 metal consumer unit, & its s type time delay protection at meter cabinet on a TT system. Fair size new build so C.U is about 12 mtrs from cabinet. (Excuse if I've left any details out.).

Hi thanks for the quick reply Dave sparks, should have said the SWA tails will be going into the back of CU. And of course
The termination query refers to mainly the earthing of the wired armour earth, is it Right to earth enclosure on a TT? Many thanks and sorry for ineptness of original post.

Not sure how you are going to avoid that using an AMD3 compliant enclosure!

SWA must be glanded into the top or bottom of the metal CU.

can do, but an extra box stuck on the wall may be unacceptable to fussy knickers customer.

Accessible for gland connections I assume you mean ? Usually use 3 core - lne and a flying lead for armourings no connections in box just inner sheath into db with fly lead

rather have gland where it's accessible for routine maintenance ( check tightness etc.) . you beginning to sound like a customer ( want it to work, but don't want to see it ).

had one like that the other week. when they said as cheap as possible, i offered to get them some scrap cable and some second hand sockets with a bit of paint on. that shut them up.

The answer is still SWA gland whatever direction it comes from.

As for the question about earthing the enclosure, that is quite frankly a very scary question indeed as the earthing of metal enclosures is one of the most basic safety provisions

Hi davesparks, understand that earthing a metal enclosure is basic provision but with regards to CU and TT set up and the new 3rd amd not quite so convinced, other contributors suggestion more helpful.
