Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. Btw

You can do dead testing with switching off but without opening up the board

I'm not being sarcastic and it's spelt "wit" but let's not go there eh?
So you've replaced a socket face, how are you going to IR the circuit without taking the CU cover off and disconnecting cables?

What do you have to test between?
Live and earth
N and earth
Live and live
If all the mcbs ect are of you apart from the n - e test you are only testing that circuit. As long as tests are all okay, then all good, if not yes you may have to open up the board.

Hmmmmm, so what about the N-E test?
Come on mate, think.
My point is that you have to open the CU up and disconnect cables anyway so what's the problem? May as well do all the tests properly as opposed to bodging one of them because it's perceived as being easier/an alternative method which is acceptable. (which it isn't)
