Hi,
Doing wiring for a kitchen co. Done plenty of these recently, but we've been doing all wiring from scratch and have just run 16a radials direct from board.
In this instance it's a ballache to run back to board, and I've got a perfectly decent 6mm cable from board to oven location.
I'm...
Hi,
My son had a water leak last night in his upstairs bathroom which resulted in the water pouring through a couple of the downstairs ceiling roses. In order to rectify the situation we turned off the power to the downstairs lighting circuit and removed the covers and pendants in order to...
Hi
The sockets are already in place for the upstairs bedrooms and hallway but just need to be connected to the Consumer Unit, which MCB would I need to use? Also should it be 2.5mm Twin and Earth?
Thanks for any help on this :-)
I have two line wires coming out of the top of the 'Sockets' B32 MCB. One of those line wires connects to 3 sockets in the bedroom and the other wire connects to 5 sockets in the living room.
Each socket takes two line wires, one to power the socket and the other to pass the current onto the...
As title,
Megaflo hot water cylinder has three 3KW immersion elements. Each fed from an FCU in 2.5mm 3093Y flex.
On the surface all looked good.
Initial testing showed no earth continuity on two of the elements.
Closer inspection showed all FCU covers were loose.
Further inspection showed...
I was talking to 1 of the QSs today and was told that in amendment 1 of the 18th he thinks it will say about going back to doing radials rather than ring circuits. I'm not sure how true this is but the guy is friendly with NICEIC people and seeminly this was discussed at a recent road show (...
I currently have 4 double sockets on a 20amp Radial, I am looking to get a small air con unit (2.5kw I think) to cool a 5m by 3m space. Bearing in mind the only things plugged into the sockets are 2 PC and 2 Monitors at most, do you think a 20amp feed is enough?
It is a right pain to try and run...
Hi,
I'm planning my wiring for my garage and can't find the answer easily for this question
my garage is connected to my house, there is a 2.5mm cable reel fed from the CU.
I will be supplying 7 double sockets and 2 led light fittings from this cable
I will put a 3amp FCU to supply the lights...
Hi,
I am fitting a new kitchen and would like to know if it's ok to connect switched 13amp FCU onto a radial circuit. The kitchen has a radial circuit with 4 x double sockets fitted - 2.5 twin and earth cable. I would like to add 4 x 13amp switched FCU's - one from each double socket so as I can...
Hi all
I am looking to add 2 additional 2G sockets to an existing 16amp radial circuit that has 2 1G sockets on it.
It’s a 3 story house and the consumer unit is in the Cellar. There are two rooms on the top floor and two radial circuits are feed from the one 16amp MCB with no RCB fitted.
I...
Refurbishing a kitchen and was looking to put the appliances on a radial circuit as they are all very close together for spurring off the ring main.
Had originally planned 2.5mm t&e and 16 or 20 amp fuse for Fridge freezer, dishwasher and hob with fuse spurs in the cupboard. Client now wants to...
Hello all, first time posting here, was hoping for some theories/advice regarding a confusing situation. Essentially we were looking to add one or two sockets to a upstairs bedroom (40's build rewired in 80's I think with black/red colour system). It currently has two sockets and there is also...
Guys, I'm wiring a ten bedroom house which has 4 floors. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as fat as I know, new regs says to keep each room on a radial. So shall I keep each room on a radial or have a few rings on each floor after calculating the maximum demand??
Hi guys
I’m due to carry out a part rewire for now on my parents 1930s home in the living rooms and bedrooms etc and eventually the kitchen and living room will be knocked through into one room in a few months time. I’m going to update a downstairs socket circuit, upstairs socket circuit...
Hi guys,
Just an initial heads up, I’m just level 2 qualified, so go easy on me.
I’m currently adding some sockets in my house. So I thought I’d break the ring, extend it and add them in.
Took the back off a socket and it only had one cable going into it, so presumed it was a radial. I’ve...
Hi new to the forum and thanks for any help,
Parents have bought a typical 1930s 3 bed semi which had a rewire in the early 70s. I’m guessing the consumer unit has been updated since then because all circuits are protected with RCBO’s ( 2 x 6amp lighting circuits 1.5mm cable, 2 x 16amp radial...
HI,
I'm renovating my house room by room and am turning what was the kitchen into a bedroom.
Anyway, I've ran a new 2.5T&E cable from the consumer unit to the bedroom and want to know if this is an acceptable way to wire the room as it will make it much easier if this is allowed. Just not...
when working out voltage drop on a lighting circuit to work out the amp's (lb)I don't have a problem, say 10 lights @ 100 watts each 1000 watts 4.35 amps but what should I apply for a ring final and radial circuit.
Hi,
I have recently completed an intensive electricians course and I am at the stage where I am trying to get practical experience wherever I can.
One of my jobs, which I am planning to use to join a competent person scheme, is to change my consumer unit and wire up my extension.
At present...
Another straight forward job today has turned out to be a right mess once again so I thought I'd get some thoughts on the following before I start !
So an old MK LN59 board, feed to garage sockets on a single 2.5mm t&e from a 15A mcb and also spurred to feed a boiler on S plan,
Next ring final...
