I have in the past mounted the inverter in the loft space but a customer wants it located in the garage. It's approxa 20m run to the array. Would you be inclined to put a dc isolator in the loft space for local isolation? The cable run for 1 string would be 4mm would this be correct? If anyone would share some light it will be greatly appreciated!!!

Sorry! Yes the garage is attached to the house with the run to the loft in conduit externally it will have 16 x245 panels with a fronius 3.6tl

4mm DC cable would be fine. Nothing to stop you having a DC isolator near where the cables come thru the roof and another just before the inverter as far as I can see. As long as they are labelled correctly it should be ok.

That's ok. Hope the installation goes well for you. I guess your customer wanted the inverter to be in the garage as it's cooler and more accessible? Make sure it's well positioned out of the way of stray footballs, reversing cars, etc. And you don't want it to become a shelf for paint pots either!

Ha ha ! I'll tell him it's a first time using a tl transformer the regs change a bit which can be daunting!! Regarding rcds bonding etc
