Discuss Ive broken the front cover to the consumer unit in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

how do I know wether to use the 1mm or 1.5mm i usually go for the 1.5mm so im covered but I wouldnt mind knowing when I can get away with 1ml and when I cant

Can't believe someone asks this question, but even worse I can't believe someone gives it a serious answer!

Please, please stop doing work in people's houses. No issue with asking questions and learning, that's great, but not while doing the job.

This question proves you should not be doing what you are doing. The answer is the same as for any circuit, by the way - current carrying capacity of the cable. Daz
