Discuss New build CU entry and posistion in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Visited a new build today with my spark to see his mate and having a look around came across this in the utility room loft.

Asides the horrendous entry i was under the impression from college that regs state a cu has now got to be made accessible and the switches of the breakers between 1350 and 1450..or is there exceptions to this?

Wonder how long the tails are? And why not use 2 round knock outs and grommets? - would've been quicker too.

So 1350-1450mm board height, just because it’s not in BS7671, we still have to mount it there right? Or are you allowed to place them high out of reach etc

Think it depends on the context of the job and what is expected plus, as mentioned above, it is a recommendation and should be treated as such.

more down to what the building inspector will accept . if he insists on fitting a CU for dwarfs, then snow white and the 7 can live there.
