Hi,
This is my first post and was wondering if anyone could help :)
I moved into my 1 bed flat about 7 months ago - the flat has single glazed windows and all electric. Our electric heating is Thermaskirt - so the heating is in the skirting boards and our meters are digital and have Economy 7...
I have a customer with a standard meter box surface mounted. they have incoming fuse to a new smart meter, then tails to a fused isolator with 16mm T&E going to consumer unit a few meters away. I've added a 10mm SWA from there to large garage. Also installed new 16mm SWA in order to replace the...
Hi everyone.
I’m after a bit of guidance here.
British Gas have failed to attend 2 appointments to replace a credit meter with an economy 7 meter. Both appointments were confirmed via email.
I have sent electricians on both occasions to do our final connections but to find that the meter...
I have 200amp connection, with the meter and service disconnect at the road (see pictures). House panel is about 75 feet from the service disconnect at the road.
1) Assuming I need 4/0-4/0-4/0-2/0 AL wire sizes (considered a sub panel), exactly what type of wires are required to run from the...
Hi
I don't know if I should ask it here or the main electricians forum. It's about CU change and the work around it and the CU change will be done by a proper registered electrician.
I will try to upload the pictures so you can see what I am talking about. I took two quotations. One just ask...
Went to a house this morning to locate a fault causing the RCD in a split load board to trip.
Going through the usual tests, I decided to put my earth leakage clamp meter on the earthing conductor.
Here is where it gets weird: with the main switch in the off position, the meter was reading...
Is it possible in a domestic premises to use 35KW of electricity per day? I ask because I've just had a bill from EDF saying that I used 3300KW of electricity from October to February (19 weeks). I've noticed that they think I’m using between 15KW and 35KW per day. When I only use about 60KW per...
I've been asked to confirm that our site electricity meter is accurate!
Easy on a small site, but 6 cable feed, and a few thousand amps, leaves me short on ideas.
To confirm, this is the meter that records electricity usage for our bill.
It's a CT style. The meter doesn't give a live power read...

A customer had a smart meter fail in such a way that it was passing on phase through to both of the output lugs meaning that both lugs supplied 120V to ground but there was 0 volts between them. The power utility replaced the meter and all was well but the problem reoccurred a few days later...

Hi Guy,
I’ve contacted my DNO Scottish power and they’ve quoted me a price of £760 to move my connection point and meter. I seem to be doing most of the work with them pretty much terminating it.

If it is possible is additional...
